Q: What steps can I take (prior to servicing my computer) that could SAVE me money in labor charges?

  1. Have your Windows CD and Restore Discs available.
  2. Have your Windows Product Key number.
  3. Back-up data (if possible).
  4. Write down any error messages you are getting (if any).
  5. Record the last thing you did before the problem occurred.
  6. If you are bringing in a laptop - bring in the AC power supply!
Please Note: Every effort is made to preserve the data on your hard drive, but, we cannot guarantee your data. The best action you can take before bringing your computer in for repairs is to back up your data to an external media.

Q: What security recommendations do you suggest?                                              

  • Install an anti-virus application and keep the subscription for virus definitions updates current.
  • Download and install all service packs, critical updates and appropriate operating system fixes.
  • Download and install programs to remove and prevent Adware and Spyware from installing on your system.
  • Be very careful with email and attachments to emails.
  • Don't store credit card and financial institution data on your computer.
  • Back up your critical data files regularly.
  • Watch where you surf and what you download.
  • Restrict physical access to your machine.

Q: Why does my computer run so slowly? (One or more of the following may account for slowness)

  • Insufficient hard drive space preventing use of the swap file (this file allows use of hard drive resources as supplemental memory).
  • Running several applications simultaneously with limited memory.
  • Adware/Spyware programs.
  • Virus infection.
  • Running unnecessary programs.
